We are seeking a Senior Dam Safety Engineer to strengthen our team in the dam safety department.
The dam safety department is responsible for managing and monitoring the work of dam safety. We analyze the safety of the dam facilities and set requirements for their design, compile action needs, initiate projects and announce operational restrictions when necessary.
In this role, you will play a pivotal role in our commitment to ensuring the safety of our dam facilities. As a key member of the dam safety department, you will lead efforts in analysing, monitoring and improving the safety of our dams while setting high standards for their design and operational protocols. Your focus will be working with our hydro power plants in Finland which gives the opportunity to travel in Finland. There will also be some international travel and staff meetings in Sweden. This is a permanent full-time position and you will be reporting to a manager in the Swedish organization.
You will:
- Identify needs, develop proposals and lead dam analysis studies
- Identify and evaluate deficiencies regarding the dam safety status of the facilities
- Plan and order permit inspections and dam projects
- Review technical reports and information from license inspections
- Propose measures and draw up action plans to improve dam safety
- Produce decision-making documents for prestudies and projects
- Manage projects and act as internal client in projects
- Report on activities and develop working methods

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Background in the field of Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- Minimum five years of relevant experience for example working as a planning engineer or project leader
- Previous experience in dam safety is an advantage
- Familiarity with GIS, FEM, and CAD software is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills and goal orientation
- Excellent communication skills in Finnish and English (Swedish proficiency is a plus)
